Chorten Ink is founded by Swasi Dan (me). I am a hand tattoo artist what means i only tattoo by hand without a tattoo machine and without electricity.
There are different methods of hand tattooing. The way I do is called Handpoking.
Handpoking is a thousands of years old traditional tattooing method which is done all over the globe (Europe, Africa, Asia, North- , South- and Latin America).
But Handpoking is not everywhere the same. It depends on the materials you could find in nature such as bones, horn, thorns, spine of fish for example. These materials are used for the needles by only using the sharpened materials or bound to a stick. Nowadays for hand poking here are used tattoo needles (single ones or premade ones) as well especially in westernized cultures.
The word chorten (tib.: མཆོད་རྟེན་ mchod rten) means stupa.
In buddhism reliquaries from the buddha, reverend monks and lamas (arhat) are saved in a chorten. The chorten is also a symbol for the buddha and the dharma and symbolizes the stages in the path to reach enlighment. To circumulate the chorten enables a positive reincarnation and spends positive energies. Practitioners circle around the stupa clockwisely. In pre-buddhist ages the stupa was a raised barrow for deceased kings.
I only work on the road. So if you like a handpoked tattoo don`t hesitate to message me. In the calender you can see where i will be for a special date. I only work with black and red cause these are the oldest colours for tattooing.
In my gallery there are only a few pictures of work I did. There will be more pictures soon.
